Brisbane Trail Ultra
We are excited to announce that in 2019 we will be hosting the inaugural Brisbane Trail Ultra and Festival. The Brisbane Trail Ultra marathon course was specifically designed by Shona Stephenson and David Eastman to be placed amongst the most picturesque and challenging trail ultra marathons in Australia.
The Brisbane Trail Ultra marathon is staged in Brisbane where locals have long enjoyed the 36000 hectares of D’Aguilar National Parks Expansive eucalyptus woodlands, subtropical rainforests and gorges all within a stone’s throw away from the vibrant city centre.
“This race is bigger than Brisbane. The Brisbane Trail Ultra marathon is a real world class prestigious event, attracting the best athletes to be part of something special.” Shona Stephenson Race Director, 8th on the UTWT 2014
Our races aim to both test the best trail runners locally and internationally as well as allowing the fun-loving cruise runners to come out and enjoy the spoils of Brisbane’s Hinterland. Whether you are looking at racing solo in the 30km, 60km or 110km events or entering as a team in the 30km, 60km or 110km relay team event, you won’t be disappointed.
“It’s about the vert, it’s about the views, it’s about the rainforest, it’s about the single trails” Race Director Shona Stephenson.
The Brisbane Trail Ultra is a challenging course designed with generous sections of vertical gains and losses in all three distances offered. Our premier 110km ultramarathon boasts approximately 5000m of vertical climb and descent through much of Brisbane hinterland’s surrounding trails. Our start line will be in The Gap, a leafy inner Brisbane Suburb only 8km from the Brisbane CBD. Run straight into the D’Aguilar National Park through beautiful gorges, breath-taking lookouts, around Brisbane lakes, through eucalyptus forests where you will experience stunning virgin rainforests and sweeping views of Brisbane’s woodlands, you will be rewarded with extraordinary views following demanding climbs as well as enjoying thrilling sections of descents.
The addition of our road section to the Brisbane Trail Ultra allows us to travel the last 8km through historic Paddington, where you will continue on and experience a hero’s welcome with large crowds cheering you on at the finish line in Brisbane’s iconic South Bank. You deserve to finish like a champion and there is no better place in Brisbane to do this than here.
“The Brisbane Trail Ultra has an epic finish line experience. It will be the perfect finale to your ultimate heroic adventure.”
This race will be tough, this race will be an epic adventure. Join us and let our race help prepare you for any world class event in Australia and around the World.

We have thought about your long suffering support crew. They need places to grab coffee, eat great food and enjoy some shopping or tourist attractions whilst you are prepping, racing and recovering. We are working to develop our Off Trail Adventures and Food Safari itineraries for ideas on where to eat, drink, party, enjoy, chill and relax. We know you will love the Brisbane Trail Ultra
