We are super stoked to announce that we’ve formed another partnership with the infamously tough The 9 Dragons Ultra.

The 9 Dragons Ultra 50/50

A bit of house keeping, for those who did not know sadly Hakuba International Trails was cancelled in 2019 due to erosion to the course. They have moved the timing of the event to June 2020. We are still honouring our partnership with Hakuba International Trails and excited to see how the new course will be designed for their June 2020 event. Hakuba, also know as the Japanese Alps, is beautiful in the Green Season, and it should be the perfect time for trail running in Japan as it misses the typhoon season with is traditionally in September.

We are 2 weeks out from our final training camp on the 8th and 9th on June. This training camp will on on the 100 mile course. See our links below;

Check Point Locations for Support Crews important information;

To reduce the impact of traffic on the local residence in the Mount Nebo, Mount Glorious and Brookfield community, it is important that the support crews DO NOT arrive at the check points before their runner has left the Check Point Previous. To prevent crowding at the check points You will not be allowed entry to Mount Nebo Public School or Gold Creek Reservoir unless your runner has left McAfees Lookout Check Point 1. This is also the case for our final check point JC Slaughter Falls, please do not enter this check point until your runner has left Gold Creek Reservoir.

T8 Typhoon Wear

T8- Typhoon Wear

The Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival Team is super excited to announce that T8 – Typhoon Wear will be giving our 24 vouchers at our Brisbane trail Ultra Festival presentations on the Saturday the 7th of July.

T8 Typhoon Wear is deigned and tested in Hong Kong one of the most humid places to run in the world. It is these extreme racing and training conditions that has inspired the development of the T8 Typhoon Wear, super light weight and fast drying ultra trail race kit. We think the T8 range is perfect for our hot and humid Brisbane Spring, Summer, Autumn conditions.

Our lucky 100 Mile podium male and female runners will all receive a voucher of $200 HK dollars (postage included on online delivery) our 1st place 30km 2 person relay, 1st Place 60km 3 person relay, 1st Place 110km Relay will also receive this fantastic prize.

There is heaps of trail running kit to pick from on their website. Waist lights, light weight compression shorts, race shorts, race phones, trucker caps and I heard there is a new women’s range that is about to land in June…….stay tuned for more updates on their every growing range.

Medical Conditions

Medical Conditions

Your safety is so important to us and we really care about you while out racing on the Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival course. Please get in contact with me if you’d like to update your medical conditions.

I am an asthmatic. I get exercise induced asthma, meaning the likelihood of me getting sick out racing an ultra is high. I am prepared with my preventives- asthma medications.

I fill out my race medical conditions form to the best of my knowledge meaning that if I am taking medications or if I am allergic or react to anything I list it.

I list I am allergic to the following; wheat, 220, gluten, sesame, peanuts, tomatoes and dairy.

I put it on my entry form so then the Race Director will know what is best to have at the aid stations to prevent someone from getting sick whilst racing the event.

We are designing nutrition for our check point stations and we are aiming to be a Gluten Free Friendly Race so if you are a celiac or have IBS, allergic to peanuts, dairy, sesame, 220 or anything else let us know and we will make sure our aid stations with be safe for you. Or we will let you know of what the food content is of our food out on the course.

I am lucky enough to be a PT and Running Coach filling out the medical forms are part of my health screen of my clients and is an everyday part of life for me. I know that if I put on a form that I am asthmatic, have allergies or any other medical conditions that are safe to run with, and I have clearance from a doctor, I am not going to be prevented from racing. The reason we ask for all this information is to help us, Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival Team and medical staff in the event of an emergency. We won’t prevent you from racing, we just want to know more about you to keep you safe. It is a way that you can let us know more about you so we can best cater the Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival to best suit your needs.

Happy Long Easter Weekend

100 Mile Race Ambassador Kieran O’Brien

We are proud to announce our latest Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival 100 mile race ambassador Kieran O’Brien.

Kieran O’Brien is tough, humble, has not an once of BS in his body, he’s seasoned, in fantastic form, with loads of experience in 100 Mile events and longer. His temperament is perfect for 100 Mile distances.

He’s just placed 3rd at the gruelling Northbourne 170km in Otago NZ with over 10,000 vertical gain and loss and is ready to take on the Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival 100 Mile. Our 100 Mile course is 8000 vertical gain and loss so we think Kieran will breeze through our ITRA 6 point and UTMB qualifying event.
