Training Camps

Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival have launched their training camps. Learn directly from x-elite Ultra Trail World Tour athlete Shona Stephenson about all her racing, training and recovery tips. Shona has had over 10 successful years of racing world wide and is sharing her skills and knowledge of the course directly with you. Shona is your Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival Race Director and is passionate about sharing her knowledge to her coaching clients and is opening up her services to Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival entrants and non entrants on these following dates.

  • Saturday 30th March 2019
  • Saturday 13th April 2019
  • Saturday 8th June 2019
  • Sunday 9th June 2019

The group sizes will be small, limited to only 10 runners per day to ensure you get the most out of your day on the course with Shona and her Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival Team.

Different fitness levels will be catered for within the group. The faster runners will be asked to do extra hill reps on certain sections of the training course to make sure that everyone is getting the most from their training camp day. If you are looking to qualify for the Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival you will be fit enough and fast enough for our training camps. Get in contact with us and we will make sure you will be in the right training group for the day.

If you can’t make it to a particular below date that aligns with your Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival event, don’t worry you will have the option of joining another training camp day. Email our team your past races or current training runs and we will be able to work around you.

If you are following a program and need to run extra on that particular weekend/day, let us know the distance and we will also be able to work with your coaches instructions.

The training camps can also be used as qualification towards your Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival events.

Cost Of the Training Camp

  • $100/day for Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival entrants
  • $190 for non-entrants.
  • If you haven’t entered the Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival and you pay full rate of $190 and after spending time on the course then decide to enter the Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival we will happily give you a credit of $90 for your Brisbane Trail Ultra Festival entry.

Training Camp 1: Saturday 30th March

  • Run 30km on the 60km, 110 km and 100 Mile Course
  • Qualification for the 60 km Event
  • Maximum 10 participants
  • Start 5am The Gap State High School Oval
  • Hydration Testing, Mandatory Gear Check, Safety Briefing
  • Start to CP 1: Hell Hole break, South Boundary Rd, 69 break, Enoggera Reservoir
  • Finish The Gap State High School for a picnic lunch, Sports Nutrition, Ultra Trail Tips, Drop Bags, Support Crew, Pacing information.

Training Camp 2: Saturday 8th April

  • 45 km (TBC) on the 110 km and 100 Mile Course
  • Qualification for 110 km Event
  • Maximum 10 participants
  • Start 5am Jolly’s Lookout
  • Hydration Testing, Mandatory Gear Check, Safety Briefing
  • Boombana, Fernlands, Double Break, Township, Augies, South Boundary.
  • Finish Jolly’s Lookout 1pm for a picnic lunch, Sports Nutrition, Ultra Trail Tips, Drop Bags, Support Crew, Pacing information.

Training Camp 3/4: 8th and 9th June

Back To Back Days- Day 1

  • 40 km (TBC) day 1 100 Mile Course
  • Qualification for 110 km event (even though on the 100 mile course, this day demonstrates that you are fit enough to complete the 110 km event.
  • Maximum 10 participants
  • Start 5am Mt Nebo State School
  • Hydration Testing, Mandatory Gear Check, Safety Briefing
  • Mount Nebo Dept (Corner Mt Nebo Rd and Dundas Rd)
  • Westridge, England Creek, Joyner’s Ridge, Western Window, Lawton Rd, England Creek, Side Break, Goodes Rd, Dundas
  • Finish Dundas Camp ground for a picnic lunch, Sports Nutrition, Ultra Trail Tips, Drop Bags, Support Crew, Pacing information.

Day 2

  • Start 5am Mount Nebo Dept (Corner Mt Nebo Rd and Dundas Rd)
  • 20 km (TBC) Day 2
  • 100 Mile Course
  • Hydration Testing, Mandatory Gear Check, Safety Briefing
  • Dundas, Whoa Boy Break, Carbould Loop, Burnt Yard Break, Boot Break, Cabbage Tree, Taylors break, Double Break, Hammermiester Rd,
  • Finish Dundas Camp ground for a picnic lunch, Sports Nutrition, Ultra Trail Tips, Drop Bags, Support Crew, Pacing information.
