Shona Stephenson
Brisbane Trail Ultra® Race Director and Founder.
Shona is a passionate trail runner and lover of adventure. She seeks trail heaven through racing and training and has seen the world through trail running.
She is an elite athlete, ranked as high as 8th on the UTWT, 10th UTMB, 2nd UTMF, 3rd x3 UTA, 1st B100 x 3 times, and record holder. She’s even placed 2nd at a Spartan Obstacle course event!
She understands what it is like to be an athlete on a course, from the perspective of an elite runner but also as a running coach, listening to her client’s experiences, and also as a sports nutritionist, making sure the runners have what they need at each checkpoint and Finish Line.
Shona is driven by creating the best possible experience for all the entrants on the Brisbane Trail Ultra® course.
In a previous life, Shona was a fashion designer, and clothing patternmaker and is inspired by colour, shape, form. The BTU Team make use of Shona’s design skills for the branding of the Brisbane Trail Ultra®

Cora Lau
Brisbane Trail Ultra® Race Coordinator.
Cora is a trail running nerd! She is also a selfless volunteer at other trail running events. Cora’s role is to keep our runners’ safe while out on the course. You probably won’t see Cora on the day, (if you do want to catch her, come to our presentation) she is up in the Opps room watching those GPS trackers carefully, making sure no one is lost, and coordinating our athlete situation response.
Cora’s background is in medical research with infectious diseases and has an eye for detail. Her knowledge has helped the team navigate through the COVID19 crisis with confidence, knowing that we have the best possible up-to-date knowledge to keep everyone safe.
Cora is also a lover of trails, people, and animals!
