Easter Holidays, Anzac Day, Lest We Forget, and Love of Trails

We hope that you had an amazing Easter Break and managed to run off all those guilt-free chocolate easter eggs in the milder weather conditions.

We smashed through 700 entries and close to 750+Jump on our website and Sign Up, we’ve just released more entries across each event!

It’s this time of year that we remember our fallen solders and those who have fought to protect our great country. This year at a local event, you can commemorate the service and sacrifice of those who have served in the defence of our nation. In 2021, I’ve been lucky enough to be at Agnes Waters, so I’ve been able to pay my respects at a small service, but globally, it is the first time in two years we can all be together safely.

When the playing of the bugle sends a shiver down your spine
When you realise that your qualities are just the same as mine
From dreamtime land to coastal sand, the city to the sprawl
When the essence of my legacy unites Australians all
When Anzac legend shines a light on all who make that vow
With pride, the world will know their name a hundred years from now

The Brisbane Trail Ultra has a strong connection with 42 for 42.

42 for 42 is a not-for-profit organisation that was founded by Army veterans whose aim is to help veterans and their families by building a memorial dedicated to those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. The 42 stands for the 41 veterans who were killed in Afghanistan, with the 42nd representing the veterans we have lost and continue to lose to suicide, and those who have returned with injuries and mental illness.

In 2021, 42 for 42 set up a Water Station at Suncorp Stadium, adjacent to Afghanistan Fallen Soldiers War Memorial that remembers the 41 soldiers lost during this war.

In 2022, the crew will be back supporting the Brisbane Trail Ultra again offering a formal Water stop, encouragement, and positive vibes with 5km to go!

Check out the article about how Carerreas De Montana Trail Running Journalist, Jorge Sabugo is preparing to race the Brisbane Trail Ultra 100Mi Event.
