Feel Good - Bush Heritage Australia - Protect Your Path Links - QUALIFIED - STOP 1 - Transgrancanaria

Brisbane Trail Ultra - Spartan Trail World Championship - Partnership.

In times of trouble, it is so good to know there are passionate people at Bush Heritage Australia dedicated to restoring the Australian Bush to good health.

We love Bush Heritage because they have a holistic approach to conserving our varied ecosystems. There are more than 1,700 animals, plants, and ecological communities on Australia’s threatened species list. Bush Heritage steps in where it’s needed most to protect all species on its reserves.

Our team wants to help Bush Heritage, and that is why Brisbane Trail Ultra is pledging $3.00 per every paid BTU - 2022 entry. We have carefully chosen Bush Heritage as an organisation as every dollar we donate goes towards keeping the country healthy and protected forever. We hope to surpass our target of $3,000 in 2022

We’d like the Brisbane Trail Ultra marathon running community to feel the love from Bush Heritage Australia and introduce the Bush Heritage Australia Podcast to you called Big Sky Country. Big Sky Country, takes the time to listen to the land and explain the science needed to protect it.

If you’d like to connect more with our amazing land and wild spaces, you can jump on the Bush Heritage Australia Website and subscribe to the Bushtracks Magazine. Bushtracks Magazine is a quarterly newsletter that will arrive in your inbox. This season’s Bushtracks magazine has been published and is a great read for anyone wanting to dive a little deeper into the understanding of the fantastic of Bush Heritage Australia and the key role that they play with the management of Bush Heritage Australia Reserves.

We all need an excuse to get our kids off their computers, learning about our land and outside in the garden. Bush Heritage Australia has some fun activities designed to get the kids back into the wild with some great activities:

  • Learn how to make a backyard sundial

  • Learn How to make a bush cubby

  • Learn how to catch some backyard bugs for an insect audit

  • Learn more about the echidna (Australia's most widespread native mammal)

  • find out how our friends in the Kimberley, the Wunambal Gaambera people, use fire in a special way to protect their Country

  • Discover just how far a kangaroo can hop

  • There's a desert animal word find,

  • There are some jokes

  • Even colouring in to do with some beautiful illustrations.

First Stop - Transgrancanaria

Shona is about to hop on a plane and is excited to be going on a trail running adventure and has been invited to present an award for the Spartan Trail World Championship 2021 season. The Presentations are being held at Season Two’s first Stop, Transgrancanaria, presenting the Spartan Trail World Championship Award is an honour and just shows how far Brisbane, Queensland, and Australia have come in the World of Trail Running.

Shona, being Shona couldn’t fly all the way to the West Coast of Africa and not enter an event and decided to add on a little marathon the Transcgrancaria Spartan Trail World Championship Trail Event, 42km. The Race she picked has 3000 meters of descending and only 1000 of climbing. Anyone who has ever run with Shona would know this would suit her trail running strengths, apart from being an insanely fun event. The race starts in the middle of Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands’ largest Island, and basically races down the volcano to the sea. The views look amazing and the atmosphere will be epic with an event that has been around for 20 years and has over 4000 entrants!

It will be cold for Shona, tops of only 19 degrees when she is there, for many of you it is the perfect running temperature. Shona prefers 30 degrees! She is looking at this event as just a fun way to see the world and is curious at how she is running after a few years off competing during COVID and really is in racing retirement. Expect loads of photos, laughs and we will see if she has her ankles by the finish line!

Another benefit for heading over to the Canary Islands and to race Transgrancanaria is to experience this amazing event, see how the Spanish run their iconic race, and bring back some of that amazing party spirit to Brisbane Trail Ultra - Spartan Trail World Championship 2022.
