We kicked started the Spartan Trail World Championship in style with Stop One Transgrancanaria. Shona was lucky enough to attend the iconic 20th Edition of the 3000+ strong event. She was over in the Canary Island enticing the Transgrancanaria entrants to race the Brisbane Trail Ultra 2022, 2023. She was also over there meeting the Spanish and United Kingdom Press, plus the other race directors that are part of the Spartan Trail World Championship. Here is her race report below, including logistics for the event and the covid requirements.

We also had the amazing opportunity to catch trail running legend Dean Karnazes and interview him for Trail Run Mag AUS/NZ. We love Dean because he is no longer an elite runner, purely races for fun and the love of trails. Dean had just released another book, called Runners High, which chats about his transition from the podiums to the mid-pack. He is also the host of the Golden Gate Trail Classic in October and is also attending Patagonia Run next month, we hope to entice him “Downunder” to the Brisbane Trail Ultra 2022. Watch this space.

Finally our training camps are filling up which is fantastic to see. We have been in contact with Queensland National parks and Wildlife Services to check on the condition of the trails on the Training Camp Routes as well as the full Brisbane Trail Ultra event course. There are some track closures in the Brisbane City Council area. If you have signed up for the April Training camp, please check your email for communications. You should have received an email over the weekend.
