Wild Earth May training camp and Wings for Life World Run recap
Wow, what an amazing weekend just gone. We’re still buzzing from its energy. First of all we ran our first 10km Wild Earth BTU May training camp. Then on Sunday, the Brisbane Trail Ultra team supported Wings for Life World Run alongside team Red Bull.
Wild Earth BTU STWC May training camp recap
The Wild Earth BTU May training camp doubled as a qualifying run for the BTU10 & BTU20 and showcases the BTU10 course turn by turn. Training camps are a great opportunity to test things out and that we did. Hammer Nutrition Australia provided us with Endurolyte Fizz, Hammer gels and Hammer bars to keep us fuelled and hydrated. Wild Earth goodies bags provided us with a pair of Smartwool socks, Julbo eyewear discount voucher, Wild magazine and a Wild Earth store voucher. On top of this, the Saucony shoe fleet was back with us again so all of us had a chance to test out the new Saucony Peregrine 13 on a 10km trail run! I believe Wild Earth have a sale on at the moment for Saucony shoes..
As always, Red Bull gave us wiiings and a huge boost after a nice run. We tested out the new Purple edition- Sugar free, and the much loved Tropical Edition and the tried and tested original Red Bull Energy.
We welcomed our Indigenous marathon foundation guests and all the wonderful runners that joined us for an informative loop of Mt Coot-Tha. A huge thanks to all our coaches for the day- Jodie Oborne, Ursula Adams and Andy Wind, who shared their expertise and discussed training, nutrition, hydration and a couple of trail running tips for climbing and descending with us.
BTU also used the training camp runners as our testers for the Capra mapping app. Watch this space for more information.
Thank you to all the participants and volunteers for making this such a memorable day.
We can’t wait for the June training camp and look forward to welcoming back many of these familiar faces. Join us for the June training camp!
Team BTU at the Wings for Life World Run
The Brisbane Trail Ultra team are very passionate about the Wings for Life World Run. We had a great evening shared with many, all there to raise awareness and funds to cure spinal cord injury. A. Prof Marc Ruitenberg, who heads the UQ neurotrauma research group, was in attendance and provides us much hope for a cure for spinal cord injury. BTU are proud to be involved with this event, providing prizes for both the one-minute wings event and the Wings for Life World Run event. Watch this space for the announcement of the winners. I had the pleasure of running this event for the first time with my Aunts and can definitely say I needed the Red Bull Energy to help push the wheelchair around for those 50 minutes (speed bumps and all!). Congratulations to Red Bull Australia for organising another successful event.
Good luck to all racing Ultra Trail Australia this weekend and happy trails.
