June Training Camp is selling FAST!
The June Training Camp is your last chance to connect with the Brisbane Trail Ultra team before your big race! BTU110 winner 2020 and Team La Sportiva Australia athlete Hayley Teale will be there and joined by AAA Racing and Coaching Susannah Harvey-Jamieson, Ultra Running Legend Jodie Oborne, BTU Race Operations Coordinator and running Coach Cora Lau, and of course BTU Race Director Shona Stephenson.
Again we will split up into two groups, Cora and Susannah will be in the lead group with the walkers of the climbs, and Hayley, Jodie, and Shona will be in the speedy group. This combination worked well in our April Training camp. The slower group headed off 1 hour before the speedy group and were caught by the runners from the speedy group. Either group then could decide which group they wanted to be in depending on how they felt. Four runners jumped from the slower group into the speedy group at our April Camp, which was fantastic. This strategy worked well, and we plan on running the same format for the June Saturday Camp and Sunday Training Camp.
The Training Camp is an excellent opportunity to test your nutrition with the guidance of the running coaches and Hayley to help you along the way. We all stick together, look after each other have a blast out there! Red Bull AUS supplies the WINGS, Hammer Nutrition Australia provides us with sports nutrition and hydration for the camp, and K2 Base Camp, Endurance Edge, and T8 Run will be supplying some fantastic gift vouchers! Plus, Shona brings loads of BTU Merchansie 🙌🏽 It will feel like trail running Christmas 🎄
The Brisbane Trail Ultra, Spartan Trail World Championship wouldn’t be a world championship without the representation from as many countries as possible. The vision for the BTU was to provide a platform for local and national athletes to race against the best trail runners in the world. Shona has been working with Ezekiel Kurui and Athletics Kenya to help him reach the BTU-2022. Ezekiel is from the famous Kalenjin Tribe, which has earned the largest share of major honours in international athletics from 800 meters to the marathon; the vast majority of these Kenyan running stars have been Kalenjin. Ezekiel has represented Kenyan Athletics in Comrades and wants to step it up and take on the beast of the BTU100Mi event.
We love Ezekiel because he is an active member of the conversation community in Kenya. He has set up his group and works to keep his community clean and free of rubbish, fire hazards, and planting new trees. It’s so wonderful to see that trail runners across the globe are making a difference.
Shona has booked Ezekiel for a Zoom Interview this
TUESDAY NIGHT 🙌🏽
Stay tuned for this insightful chat about everything trail running! Kenyan style!
Protecting our wild spaces is essential to Brisbane Trail Ultra, and we understand that we all have a role in protecting our precious environment and preventing climate change. In 2022 we’ve committed to donating $3.00 per entry to Bush Heritage Australia. So far, we have raised around $2250.00. We have almost reached our target of $3,300+. We thank everyone who has already entered the BTU2022, and we ask that you tell your friends that we need their help to reach our goal of over $3,300 for Bush Heritage Australia. Let them know we still have entries to the BTU-2022.
Massive congratulations to everyone who ran at the TRAQ Brisbane Trail Marathon on the weekend! Cora and Shona will keep an eye out for your adventures on the socials and the trails
Cheers
