It’s been a big few weeks for the Brisbane Trail Ultra team, we are back on sale and pushing ahead with an amazing line up of BTU champions coming back for more action in 2022 plus we are welcoming a few new faces who’ve been locked out of Queensland and are keen to race in 2022. Again, the Brisbane Trail Ultra has attracted the biggest stars from across the nation, here is the list so far:
From the top left, we have Maree Connor (NSW), BTU100Mi, record smasher becoming our first sub-24-hour runner
Kellie Emmerson (VIC), BTU110 Winner and record holder in 2019, is racing the BTU30,
Sonja Jansen (SA) lining up to for the BTU100Mi
BTU60 Winner and B100 Record Smasher, Hammer Nutrition Athlete Reesha Lewis (GC), stepping up to the BTU110,
Legendary Gill Fowler (NSW) from Team La Sportiva in the BTU60
Team La Sportiva BTU110 2020 winner Hayley Teale (GC) also stepping up for the BTU100Mi, so far that’s three amazing women in the BTU100Mi.
Patricia McKinnon (ACT) will be racing Gill Fowler in the BTU60, we can’t wait to see what these ladies can do on the gruelling course.
Finishing off our line-up so far is Monika Holmwood (NSW) who placed 2nd in the BTU30 and has a Spartan OCR background. She’s one strong competitor.
We’ve had a few more past winner entries, BTU110 2021 winner, 2019 2nd place Jessica Schluter (BNE) the AURA Long Course National Trail Running Champion, a local favorite, is coming back again to defend her title. BTU100Mi 3rd Place Carmen Atkinson (SSC) is also back, as is Jen Millum (WA) BTU110 2nd place, and Hoah Bunh BTU110 3rd place.
That’s one amazing female start list. We’ve increased the cut-off times for the BTU60 so hope this will encourage more women into joining us in the ultra distances. As our stats currently stand, our female BTU ultra distance entrants have an 80% chance of finishing compared to 40% for the males. So enter away ladies, you will surprise yourself.
The Male competitors are equally as impressive, starting from the top left:
The BTU100Mi Record Breaker, team La Sportiva Matt Crehan (VIC), is coming back to defend his title. He will be racing the previous record holder in the BTU100Mi 2022, holder Noelis Rheault (BNE), and Damian Espinase (SA) BTU100Mi 3rd 2020.
BTU110 Winner Mike Carroll (ACT) is also coming back for more! He is the current AURA Long Course National Trail Running Champion, it will be great to see what he can do on his second attempt of the course in 2022.
The Young Guns will be going head to head, K2 Base Camp athlete, Matt Gore (NSW) will be racing local superstar Ben Duffus in the BTU60, Matt has come close to Ben’s amazing time on a slightly longer course, we are keen to watch this battle unfold across the day.

Matt Dunn, BTU110 3rd place podium winner will be back to race Mike Carroll and Pitro Babis BTU110 2nd place in the BTU110, Mike, Pitro, and Matt were only separated by less than 20 minutes!
