Pacers

PACER RULES

  1. It is highly recommended that all runners on the course after Check Point 6 are accompanied by a “registered pacer” or another “registered runner” after 8 pm on Saturday night until finish.

  2. Pacers are permitted for BTU100Mile entrants ONLY after CP4 Dundas Camp and Gold Creek Reservoir CP5.

  3. If you are in the BTU110 and BTU60 and require a pacer for at CP5 you may have one but you will not be eligible for prize money or age group category prizes.

  4. Pacers must carry all the mandatory gear that is required on the course. Pacing from CP4, BTU100Mi Kits is required, CP5 BTU100Mi Kit is required, and CP6 BTU30 Kit is required. Keep in mind it is the middle of winter, and your runner might be walking not running, you may choose the BTU100Mi kit to wear just to stay warm as temperatures next to the Brisbane River do drop down to 2 degrees overnight in July.

  5. If a pacer is found without the required mandatory gear for the section they are pacing, the runner will be penalised with a 2 Hour Time Penalty. The 2 Hour Time Penalty will be added to their runner’s finishing time. The pacer and the runner will have to remain at the checkpoint until the mandatory gear can be added their the pacers kit. If the required mandatory gear can not be located and added to the pacers kit, the pacer will be removed from the course and will have to arrange their own travel to the finish line at their own expense.

  6. No “mule-ing” (someone carrying your gear for you). Any pacer found mule-ing for their runner will result in a 2 hour Time penalty to the runner’s time. The runner must carry all their own water, food, mandatory gear and cannot accept food or water from their pacer.

  7. Pacers are not able to mechanically or physically aid their runner outside of the checkpoints.

  8. If you are an elite runner on the course and in contention for a podium position therefore cash prizes, you are only allowed one pacer with you between checkpoints at any given time. If you are not racing for cash prizes you may have more than one pacer with you on the course at a time between CP6 , and the finish line.

  9. BTU110, and BTU60 runners who are racing for the podium awards are allowed a pacer from CP6 only.
